Looks cool.

Oh, and i have a name for your panda, "Panda". :P

What I really like are that you background has diferent levels, neat idea :D. And as far as I can tell from here just based on a simple trick, I like that.

EDIT: Since the other PC is named Fiona why not call the Panda "Duncan".

Re: Paul, it's very very good:D

Believe it or not, but I've watched the whole video. I like that you've sticked somehow to the interface in GG2, and it's quite sympathetic. Really, that ultra-bear needs a tough name, like...I don't know: Thor, maybe?...It kinda needs a super name....and Fiona is like GunGirl, because I saw she uses pistols as primary weapon :D
I think it's going to be a very good game, especially because it's fun and addictive. I mean: even a kid could play it, no? :) That graphic is very good, and the music is fit with the atmosphere, and I like the way you present it :) Like you're a storyteller...:D..of course, these are the first 14 minutes...the rest is a secret, waiting to be discovered :)

I'd give it a number 1 place in a freeware games' top :D

Oh, and by the way, terrific that hammer  , call it Thor's Hammer, why not? :D

Cheers!
:D

Edit: Thanks, mutecebu  That idea just came to me when I saw that hammer  ... And it depends now, maybe it won't be so easy. Probably there will be an Iron Stage of sorts, like it was in GG2. And of course, I saw a lotta spaces for quests, so there will be plenty of them...Also, I like the fact that the sword can be upgraded easily. And of course the shuriken, that's very cool (like the Sawblade Cannon in GG2). And what about the bosses? I'll make the guess they will be strong - and those will need great names too :D.

This looks great! Thoughts:

- I understand that it's still an alpha version, but I think in the future it may be better to make a "trailer" - 2 minutes long or so of you playing the game, and let the gameplay speak for itself.
- Heh heh, I kind of like DarkWolf's idea of naming it Thor or something equally ridiculously strong-sounding

- I REALLY like that you're trying to bring in innovative platforming elements - that's exciting. That's probably what I'm most looking forward to - challenging platforming puzzles
- The shiruken looks like a lot of fun, especially in conjunction with the sword

- I'm not sure about the combat, yet. I know that I haven't tried it myself, and it's not even finished yet, but the way it shows the health bars, it looks like you will only be fighting one foe at a time. It might be too easy to simply run / shield past a foe, and even if not, it might either be too easy; OR, if it's appropriately difficult, it might take a long time to fight each foe and just become annoying. It's pretty easy to dodge a single enemy's attacks - you can usually do a hit-and-run, as you demonstrated against the sword-carrying robot.

yay paul im glad were seeing you next baddass game :)

i dont have much on the way of ideas to help wiht this one untilw e see a bit more but i love the closer combat on this one vs GG2.
Also dont be afraid to have hard platforming like you did in the original release of GG2, it makes it so much more rewarding to beat :)

anyway i cant wait to get my hands on this bad panda

Hi Raven :)
Nice to see you stick around! I will produce some more content for the game and show it in a new video (hopefully) next week!

Looks great!

I especially like the way you updated the shield. One thing that bothered me in GG2 was how the difficulty level didn't really matter because it was best to just go everywhere with your shield on all the time. It looks like you addressed this issue for Mr. Panda :)

The one-on-one combat looks like it will be a big difference. I hope you're testing it thoroughly, but I suspect it will be tough to top GG2 here.

Also, what tool do you use to draw your sprites? They look very good :)

Super Panda Adventures and the Pixel Art clips:)

Postby Dark Wolf » Fri Oct 14, 2011 3:26 pm

Paul, I got the opportunity to look at the videos about your Pixel Art - you aren't really that bad :D Maybe it's just a matter of imagination and it's kinda complicated to draw characters, I saw you did a lotta corrections, 'cause, as I said, it's pretty difficult to imagine how a character should be - maybe our Panda hero and Fiona were simple, but the NPC's and other enemies....I suppose this "method" is the same you used for Gun Girl 2, I guess you already had the model for Gun Girl, and you had to draw Gun Dude and the other NPC's and enemies...and had to think about the movements, and dialogue options... It requires a lot of imagination, but I hope you'll make a breakthrough and our fantastic Panda (I still maintain my idea of naming him Thor - as I saw the hammer  ) will have super-cool adventures. Oh, and I saw you already named the characters you've drawn so far. If you need ideas for names, I'll gladly stay up with suggestions, and also, the music is great, I believe some of the tracks can fit with the various scenes in the game :D

Really nice to see the new game is getting in better in all technical ways than it's predecessor GunGirl 2, but the one main thing what bothers me most is the game world/design setting - why Panda/Fiona? I mean, deep in my heart I was waiting more GunGirl'ish game design (zombies! shotguns and rocket launchers!) or even GunGirl 3 rather than ... Super Panda Adventures (which automatically makes me think of Kung Fu Panda.

P.S.
What will happen when you get the XP enough for lvl 2? Upgrades similar to what did orbs in GG2?

zivs, what a post...really... ....He can't just stick only in making a Gun Girl franchise, he must diverse his pallette, so to say - maybe he'll do a Gun Girl 3 - in the future, but now Paul wants to see if he can create something else. Sincerely, it's better in a technical way - as you said - even though I (or other players like you and me) didn't have the opportunity to test the game (perhaps Paul will beta-test this one too, to check for bugs, like he did with Gun Girl 2 ). And frankly...only zombies? ...Let's see, if we're so good at Gun Girl 2, if we can handle other types of enemies, with a different character than Gun Girl, Gun Dude and Scythe...(maybe even in this game we'll have a secret character to unlock - perhaps it will be a Super Wolf  - just kidding) but seriously.... :)

And maybe the level upgrade will grant you....I don't know...maybe the attack will be more powerful, or maybe that upgrade will allow you to spend skill points into Talents, like in an RPG (I'm passed through these)
:)
